McCain to the rescue...

He's a man of action, not talk.

That would seem to be the easy-to-grasp takeaway the campaign of Republican candidate John McCain is trying to leave voters with in the wake of McCain's push for a last minute cancellation of the presidential debates scheduled for Friday, as well as a declared suspension of campaigning, in the face of the ever-widening financial meltdown.

There will no doubt be those who suggest that, before one can act sensibly, one must know what one is doing...

But sensibility does not, in the minds behind the McCain campaign, win elections. At least, that's how this jaded observer imagines their fevered strategizing, as their candidate's numbers dive in the face of an economic crisis he seems particularly ill-suited to address.
