McCain reveals ignorance of 10 fold increase in trade with Iran under Bush
It came in the midst of a light-hearted moment, with presumed GOP candidate John McCain joking -- once again -- about creative ways to kill Iranians.
But the context was serious.
A reporter had asked McCain -- who has all but advocated expanding the Mid East war to an attack on Iran -- if he realized that US trade with Iran had increased tenfold during GW Bush's term in office, oddly citing statistics on tobacco and cigarettes.
Seeming to try to divert attention from the question, McCain joked that maybe [the increase in cigarette exports] was "a way of killing" Iranians.
Pressed on the issue, he admitted that he didn't know anything about the increase in trade with Iran under Bush, whose mid-eastern policies McCain has overwhelmingly endorsed and pledged to continue...
